Since I'm studying in Paris this year, my girlfriend and I have had to adjust to a six hour time difference.
One thing we've started doing is ending our Skype conversations by having her read something to me until I fall asleep.
She gave me a choice of what I'd like to have her read, so I've been choosing selections from the SAE's Internal Combustion Engine Handbook (used loosely here as it is close to 1000 pages)
The most recent topic: engine blocks
Goodnight Oppo. Here's an alternate shot of the TVR from my first post for finishing this one!

Stole the words from my mouth. If she's willing to put up with reading that then she's a keeper

On top of that, I've helped nudge her into buying a manual, encouraged her love of wagons (she wants either my parents' Subaru or a unicorn Lexus IS wagon), and convinced that we NEED a Miata. I'm slowly bringing out her inner jalop : )

Skype relationships are a bizzatch.
until she moved form Asia to here i was living in two timezones, when i was going to sleep she was waking up, when i was waking up her day was ending.
i was getting little sleep that year.

Yeah… there have been far too many nights where I've stayed up until 4 or 5 talking to people from home. We've been doing it for three years though and we're both almost done with school, so we can see the light at the end of tunnel!
Can't imagine how rough the difference to Asia must have been though. My dad does conference calls with people in Asia all the time and I know that means a lot of weird working hours. Glad it worked out though!

yep, that was a long year. We work for the same Co. and she fortuitously got xferred to this design center on an L-1 visa. what the future holds for her work visas is sketchy cuz this Co. hires certified pudding heads in HR and lousy lawyers, if they EFF-up her renewals then we'll have to chose the nuclear option.. the M-word. 2015 will be interesting.
